Overview of Rebuild MBR

From time to time you may get the error message "system missing", "operating system not found" or black screen with blinking cursor when you boot up your system. Actually, this does not mean that your system does not exist. Such errors are most likely caused by damaged Master Boot Record (MBR). How to Rebuild MBR

Before you do

  • Download and install the AOMEI Partition Assistant first.
  • Supposing your computer cannot boot, in this condition, you need to create WinPE bootable CD with AOMEI Partition Assistant on another working computer. After that, you can use the bootable media to start your computer into WinPE and rebuild its MBR.
  • There is also another way to rebuild corrupted MBR when your computer can not boot: Unplug your disk that needs to be fixed and plug this disk to another machine or your friend's computer, and run AOMEI Partition Assistant on your friend's computer, and then Rebuild MBR on the disk.

How to Rebuild MBR with Partition Assistant

1. Select the system disk which can not boot and right-click the disk to sleect "Rebuild MBR".

2. Set up the type of MBR to rebuild in "Rebuild MBR" window. And then the program will set the type of MBR for your OS. (Choose a proper MBR type according to your operating system)
