How to Merge Two Partitions into One with Disk Partition Software?

As we all know that MBR disk only supports to four primary partitions or three primary partitions and one extended partition. If you have reached the maximum number of partitions, or one of the partition is running out of space, what you can do to solve this problem without delete any existing partition. At this situation, merge two partitions into one is a good choice.

If you want to merge two partitions into one in Disk Management, you need to delete one partition to get an unallocated space and the free space must behind the partition, which you want to extend. In order to keep your important data safe, backup first is needed. You can choose to copy the data to another big partition or use backup software to help you.

Using Disk Management to merge two partitions is a little risky for data security. Is there an easy and safe way to solve this problem?

AOMEI Partition Assistant Pro Edition, as the latest partition magic for Windows 7, is all-in-one partition manager and reliable disk management tool with many basic and advanced operations, which also compatible with Windows 7/Vista/XP/2000 Professional, Windows 8 (both 32 and 64 bit), such as resize/move partition, merge partitions, convert GPT/MBR, convert NTFS/FAT32,partition alignment, Migrate OS to SSD/HDD Wizard, etc.

  • You can merge data partition into system partition, but can not merge system partition into data partition
  • "system reserved" partition could not be merged

Tips: Apart from merging two adjacent partitions, AOMEI Partition Assistant also support merging non-adjacent unallocated space to a partition.
