It supports Windows XP/Vista/7/8/8.1, but Windows 10 is not currently supported yet. Supported SSDs include Samsung SSD 850 Series, Samsung SSD 840 EVO (2.5”, mSATA), Samsung SSD 840 Series, Samsung SSD 840 PRO Series, Samsung SSD 830 Series, Samsung SSD 470 Series. It is preferred by a lot of computer users due to its excellent performance. However, many users have complained about the problem Samsung Data Migration SSD not recognized, which comes up with a window saying that no Samsung SSD was detected when trying to clone HDD though the SSD is shown normally in Disk Management.

Solutions to Samsung Data Migration cannot detect SSD

You can try one of the solutions according to your situation.

1. If you attach SSD to a SATA/USB enclosure, the program will not recognize it as a Samsung SSD, so you can connect the SSD via SATA-to-USB cable.

2. If that doesn’t works either, remove your old hard drive and install the new SSD in its place, then connect the old hard drive to your computer with the SATA/USB adapter and then load the Samsung SSD Data Migration software.

3. If the SSD is connected via internal SATA cable, not USB external, it is most likely you are running in either IDE or RAID mode. If IDE, you definitely need to switch it to AHCI in BIOS. Before you change this, install AHCI drivers on your computer. If you are in RAID, don't change it to AHCI and leave it as RAID, but Samsung SSD Data Migration can only recognize drives in ACHI mode though Windows can handle the drive in AHCI or RAID. To get it work, you may have to reinstall your system to make that switch.

However, if Samsung Data Migration failed to recognize your SSD after trying these solutions or you think them too complicated, you can try another freeware to transfer data to SSD.
