“Possible to clone SD card?”

“Hello, experts, I can't seem to find a way to clone an SD card inserted into my PC to another external hard drive? (Ideally sector by sector). Is this possible? If possible, how to do it specifically? I'm running Windows 10. Thanks!”

Benefits of cloning SD card in Windows

SD card cloning is the process that you make an exact replica of everything on a different disk or drive. The process might cost your time and efforts, but it is always worthy. Here are some of the benefits of SD card cloning.

> Make a complete data backup

If everything on the SD card is important, cloning this entire SD card to another disk will make a complete data backup, effectively avoiding data loss or damage.

> Make SD card upgrade or replacement

If the current SD card capacity cannot satisfy your needs any more, you can clone it to another larger one to make an easy upgrade while keeping previous data safe.

Free SD card cloning software

It is totally possible to clone SD card in Windows computers if given a right disk cloning utility. Here we would like to recommend you free but powerful SD card copier software – AOMEI Partition Assistant Standard. It provides two different disk copy methods:

> Copy Disk Quickly: only copy the used space of the disk to another one, and you can adjust partition size during the cloning process. In this way, you can clone larger drive to smaller drive.

> Sector-by-sector Copy: clone every sector of the disk to the destination disk no matter the sector is used or not. This method requires the target disk is larger than, at least equal to, the source disk.

Before you clone SD card in Windows 10/8/7 via AOMEI Partition Assistant, please backup everything on the destination disk, since the cloning process will wipe out all data on it. Then follow the steps:

Step 1. Free download the disk cloning software. Install and run it in your Windows computer.

Step 2. In the main interface of AOMEI Partition Assistant. Click All Tools > Disk Copy Wizard in the left pane.
