Microsoft Surface Recovery Partition
Microsoft Surface is developed by Microsoft, which is a series of Tablet that built-in Windows operating system (typically Windows 10, 8.1, 8) and touch screen service. In view of its flexibility and convenience, Microsoft Surface products spread all over the world. These famous products include Microsoft Surface Pro 4, Surface Pro 3, Surface Pro 2, Surface Pro, Surface 3, etc.
As we all known, Microsoft Surface comes with the Windows Recovery information that allows you to refresh Surface or reset it to the factory settings, which is stored in a dedicated recovery partition on your Surface Pro, Pro 3/4, etc.
However, the recovery partition takes up huge chunks of space around several Gigabytes. In most cases, Microsoft Surface allocates a 128GB, 256GB storage device that you’ll run out of the space quickly. To solve this stubborn problem, you may want to upgrade Microsoft surface hard drive or delete Recovery partition on your Microsoft Surface to free up space.
Can I Delete The Recovery Partition?
The recovery partition on your Surface can be deleted if you wish. You can copy or move Surface recovery partition to your USB drive, then delete the recovery partition. There are two advantages:
Free up space for your Surface.
Start your Surface from the Surface Pro 3/4 recovery USB drive when your surface has a problem to start.

Delete with AOMEI Partition Assistant Professional
Before You Do
Before deleting, you have to create a Microsoft Surface recovery USB, the USB flash drive must be formatted to FAT32 and its size should be at least 16GB. To create Surface Pro 3/4 recovery USB, you can follow me to create bootable media With AOMEI Partition Assistant.
Create Microsoft Surface Recovery USB with AOMEI Partition Assistant
Step 1: Connect your USB drive with your computer, download AOMEI Partition Assistant Professional, install and perform the program.
Step 2: On the main window, select "Make Bootable Media" at the left panel. Click "Next" in next window.
Step 3: Tick "USB Boot Device".
Step 4: Select "Proceed", the procedure will prompt you to backup important data on USB drive to safe place in case of the data loss, make sure you have backed up and click "Yes".
Step 5: Click "Finish" after the progress finished and you will get a Microsoft Surface Pro 3/4 WinPE bootable media.
Note: After creating, put the bootable media into a safe place; do not save other data any more.
Delete Recovery Partition for Microsoft Surface
Step 1: Run AOMEI Partition Assistant Pro, on the main interface, right click the Microsoft Surface Pro 3/4 recovery partition and select "Delete Partition" at the drop down menu or select "Delete Partition" on the left panel.
Step 2: Select "Delete partition quickly (Recommended)" or "Delete Partition and prevent data recovery, it will take more time". Then click "OK" to make it as an unallocated space.
Step 3: Click "Apply" at the toolbar fro Microsoft Surface Pro 3/4 delete recovery partition.
After this, we have already delete recovery partition for Microsoft Surface Pro 3/4 successfully.
Delete with Surface Built-in Tool
Enter "Recovery" in Windows search box, then select "Create a recovery drive" at the list.
Select "Yes" at the "User Account Control" dialog box.
Check "Back up system files to the recovery drive" and click "Next".
Click "Create". The recovery information and recovery tool will be copied to this USB drive.
Select "Delete the recovery partition" to free up space, then choose "Delete".
After deleting, select "Finish".
Restore Recovery Partition If Required
Once you deleted the recovery partition on your Surface Pro 3/4 via the "Delete partition quickly" method, you can restore it as long as the unallocated space is not formatted after deletion. The detailed steps listed below.
Step 1: Launch AOMEI Partition Assistant Pro, on the main window, select "Partition Recovery Wizard" at the left column.
Step 2: Select the disk where the recovery partition is on, click "Next".
Step 3: Choose "Fast Search", and press "Next". You can also select "Full Search" and the time will be much longer.
Step 4: Tick the recovery partition and click "Proceed" to restore recovery partition for Microsoft Surface Pro 3/4.
