AOMEI Partition Assistant FAQ, to resize a partition, how long does it take?


 What should I do before extending my partition?
A. We highly suggest you close all other applications when running our product; If possible, we suggest you do a defragment for all of partition.
 Does Partition Assistant require a reboot in order to resize the partition?
A. Partition Assistant can extend NTFS volume/partition without rebooting computer and your windows server. Yet, to carry out the following operations, it need computer to restarts into PreOS mode:
  • Shrink some special partitions, including system partition, partition containing installation directory or page files and partitions containing running programs.
  • Shrink, move, copy, etc. system partition.
  • Shrink, resize, etc. partitions containing running programs.
 Does Partition Assistant support Removable Drive?
A. Yes, it does. AOMEI Partition Assistant supports for removable flash drive, such as USB, PC card, Thumb Drives, PenDrive, SanDisk, etc.
 Can Partition Assistant convert FAT to NTFS?
A. Partition Assistant allows you to convert file system from FAT to NTFS fast and safely. Of course, you can use "convert.exe C: /FS:NTFS" in command prompt line to complete the conversion. Or, you can use Partition Assistant command order “partassist.exe /fmt:F /fs:ntfs /label:test” in command prompt to do this.
 Can Partition Assistant support dynamic disk?
A. The paid edition (includes: professional edition, server edition, unlimited edtition and tech edtition) supports dynamic disk mangement, the home edtition supports basic disk only.
 The machine is a server partition with hardware RAID/RAID5 array. Can Partition Assistant Server Edition or Unlimited Edition support this?
A.Yes, both editions can support the hardware RAID on a server.
 Drive C is almost full and I have other partitions (D:) which have spare space, how do I resize and enlarge my C partition?
A. You can directly extend your C partition by using Partition Assistant, more details please refer to Quick Allocate Free Space from one partition to another.
 What's the limitation of DEMO version?
A. The only limitation is DEMO version cannot execute a real operation when clicking the "Apply" button in the software. You need to buy the full version if you want to take effect the operation.
 Can I uninstall Server Edition or Professional Edition and again install it to another computer?
A. It depends on how many computers you have installed the software on. One license code can be used to register Partition Assistant Server Edition on maximum 2 servers. The same goes to Professional Edition; one license code can be used to register Professional Edition on maximum 2 PCs. To manage more than 2 servers or PCs, you need to buy additional license codes or use Partition Assistant Unlimited Edition. And it allows unlimited usage within one company.
 To resize a partition, how long will I take?
A. This depends on the amount of data, such as: 40GB may take 20 minutes, 200GB data processing may take 1 hour. When you use Extend Partition Wizard and click "Proceed" button, the program will prompt you probable time.
 If I pay for the program now, how long will it take before I receive my download URL?
A. It depends on the payment method you use. If you order online with your credit card, you will have your download link after you submit the order form and an email with download link will be sent to you within a few minutes.
 I lost my Partition Assistant. Can you resend it to me? I have not received a download link of the full edition after purchasing. How?
A. Yes, please tell us your name, order ID and address/email information, we will resend your download URL to you.
 How to activate software with license code? There is no activated pop-up window?
A. Please check the software edition you download is Demo Edition or Standard Edition. Due to the fact that they are freeware, they can’t be activated directly. If you buy a kind of paid software , but you don’t receive the email that contains download link and license code, please contact: [email protected]
 Why are there two kinds of software in installation package?
A. After decompressing package, you will find two kinds of installation software. One of them is AOMEI Partition Assistant(PA), the other one is AOMEI Dynamic Disk Manager(DDM). PA is used to manage basic disk, and DDM is used to manage dynamic disk. If your disk is not dynamic disk, it is not necessary to install DDM. They can be activated with the same license code.
 After migrating, will source system change? For example, it is deleted or other accident?
A. Migrating system won’t take any effect on source system.
 While cloning disk to other external disk, it prompts that Disk Clone only supports to copy 3 partitions at most.
A. Please check the disk type of the source disk and destination disk is MBR or GPT. If the source disk is GPT, and destination disk is MBR, you will probably get such message. You can convert destination disk from MBR to GPT, and then clone disk.
 The bootable media can’t identify external device.
A. Computer may lack the drive of external device. AOMEI Partition Assistant currently doesn’t support adding drive. You are recommended strongly to download AOMEI PE Builder to create WinPE. While creating, you can add drive and other files to WinPE.
 While extending Raid1 disk, Need I block the raid, and then extend them one by one?
A. No, You needn’t. When you extend one of Raid1 disk, others will be extended at the same time.
 After migrating system, how to change drive letter of system partition in destination disk into C:?
A. Different partitions can’t use the same drive letter. Therefore, If drive letter C: was occupied by source partition, you can’t change system partition in destination disk into C: drive. When you boot computer from destination disk, system partition in destination disk will become C: drive automatically, and you don’t need to change it manually.
